Chris Forrest will be headlining this evening at Funny Bones Comedy Night at the Purple Turtle (corner shortmarket and Long Street). Chris Forrest is a comedy legend within the country having been seen on various TV adverts (including the Manchester United Vodacom advert) and he has featured on many TV shows and films (including White Wedding). This comedian is the master of deadpan comedy in the country and we are not just lucky, but blessed to have him performing at Purple Turtle tonight.

The line-up also includes the likes of Dylan Skews (who just recently performed his one man show “Skews Me” on Broadway), Mum-z (who just recently came back from performing to capacity crowd in JHB for Blacks Only) and some great new open mics.

CHRIS FOREST

Having been at the forefront of South Africa’s comedy scene for close to ten years now, his unique dry sense of humour has made him one of the country’s most popular comedians. Chris Forrest speaks slow, but he thinks quick. Some call him South Africa’s answer to Steven Wright, others say “who is Steven Wright?”

Best known for his TV appearances in the “Pure Monate Show” and in numerous successful ad campaigns including playing the part of Sasol’s volunteer Olympic coach “Coach Joe”, the “Yo” guy for the Vodacom Challenge and the recent eBucks advert we he played four different versions of himself. He’s also had smaller roles on Komplex, and the Emmy nominated episode of “Sorted”

MUM-Z
BORN in Diepkloof Soweto, but raised in Sandton, Mum-z has a style of comedy that can be universally appreciated. His vivid imagination and uncanny story telling ability, combined with his unique use of accents and facial expressions has allowed him to provide audiences with a unique and original style of comedy, drawing most of his content from his personal experiences. His career starting with presenting on the SABC 2 teenage continuity programme ‘Kidz Can’ in 1997, he then delved in script writing where he co-wrote the 2003 Best Original Script at the Wits Raps Drama Festival.

He is performed in Blacks Only numerous times and done other big performances like Arts Alive and Real Heavy Weights Comedy Jam.

DYLAN SKEWS

Dylan Skews just recently finished running his one man show, Skews Me at On Broadway. The show went well and got a good rapport from the people who attended the show and we are lucky to have him gracing our stage again with his unique laid back and highly entertaining style of dry humour.
